About Us

Civil Aviation Authority Bahamas as a Contracting Member State of ICAO is responsible for Safety and Security Oversight throughout the archipelago of The Bahamas and for all Aviation matters, as outlined in the Civil Aviation Act.

As the world of Aviation evolves the Bahamas is making strides to maintain the Standards & Recommended Practices of the Annex’s released by the Governing body of Aviation in the World ICAO. In doing so the Organization is in the process of making historical transitional changes from being a Government Department to that of an Aviation Authority.

Civil Aviation Authority Bahamas, in 2011, was the first of the Caribbean Countries in the North American & Central American Region of ICAO to successfully launch the State Safety Plan a safety initiative instituted by the Council of ICAO. The Organization has many strides and milestones to achieve, but it is the goal of Management to effectively reduce the overall lack of effective implementation of the Bahamas Civil Aviation Audit results ensuring we maintain a Safety Enhanced Aeronautical Industry.
